Based on its diverse network of international partners, UT has developed numerous exchange opportunities for students in almost every discipline of study.
The Confucius Institute at UT promotes the teaching of Chinese language and culture to faculty, students, staff and the wider community of Knoxville and East Tennessee. It organizes events and programs including short-term Mandarin courses and cultural events including Chinese holiday celebrations.
Established in 2013, the Confucius Institute is a collaborative effort with Southeast University in Nanjing, one of UT closest partners, and the Chinese Language Council International (HANBAN).
UT has numerous distinguished international partners around the world. Depending on the nature of the partnership, different collaborative agreements or memorandums of understanding may be signed. The Center for International Education oversees the procedures governing the signing of all international agreements.
UT’s Office of Research and Engagement provides training, funding, and proposal support for faculty and staff engaged in grant writing. Numerous successful grants, awards and sponsored programs are collaborative efforts with one of more of our international partners.
